Maggie Tennesen A southern California native, Maggie Tennesen’s paintings and drawings have appeared in numerous exhibitions, including the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. She received her BFA at California Institute of the Arts and her MFA at California State University at Long Beach. She teaches art at Loyola Marymount University and UCLA Extension.
Tennesen is fascinated by the interrelatedness of every system and network in the universe—intricate patterns of intertwined webs, and networks nesting within larger networks. Her work is about the web of life, the systems and patterns inside and outside of our bodies, our universe. It reveals a profound recognition of one’s fundamental embeddedness in—and dependence on—all processes of nature. It is the tension between the parts and the whole.
